March 2015 winner – Christie Edgar, Winsor Primary School

Congratulations Christie Edgar for being this month’s Smartie of the Month! Christie was nominated by Megan Auchère, SENCO at Winsor Primary School in Newham, where Christie has worked as a regular supply teacher since October 2014.

When we put out the call for impressive teachers who have worked above and beyond the call of duty, Megan responded with the highest praise for Christie’s consistent, professional manner, and excellent timekeeping and attendance. Christie is dedicated, flexible, and always willing to put in the extra hours.

To reward her for her hard work, we surprised Christie at school to present her with the award and (more importantly) embarrass her in front of a gymnasium full of Year Two kids. We hope the £50 cash prize helped make up for it…

The ‘Smartie of the Month’ award recognises outstanding teachers and support staff for their dedication, professionalism and work on behalf of Smart Teachers. Each month, we recognise a different ‘Smartie’ based on contributions to their school, excellence in the classroom, leadership abilities, community involvement and a variety of other criteria. A teacher or teaching assistant will be chosen to receive this award in excellence. The winning candidate will receive a certificate of recognition and a cash prize from Smart Teachers.
